Scope & content

The McCarthy/Bannon Family Collection consists of newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence and ephemera related to the Bannon family of Mansfield, Massachusetts. The Bannon Estate Collection consists of a photo of the likely grave marker of Patrick Bannon Sr., two (2) medals from the Providence Second Triennial Parade (9/26/1913), handwritten tag possible from the Triennial Parade, materials related to the dedication of St. Michael's Church, Cistercian Order pamphlet, a note of gift Patrick J. McCarthy Autobiographic Memoirs by Mary Josephine Bannon to the Providence Public Library, correspondence, newspaper clippings, papers related to the Bannon estate, copies of The Woman Patriot (Vol. 6, No. 22) November 15, 1922 and The Little Flower Magazine, September 1925, newspaper clippings related to the American Irish Historical Society, calendar photos and framing prints and a private signal pennant. The collection also includes photographs including several portraits of Patrick J. McCarthy, Mayor of Providence, Rhode Island (1907-1908) and a photograph of those in attendance at the Police Parade held in Providence on Oct 13, 1890.
