Biographical note

Anne Seddon Kinsolving Brown (1905-1985) was an internationally acclaimed author and specialist in military uniforms. Born in Baltimore on March 25, 1905, the daughter of The Reverend Arthur B. and Sally (Bruce) Kinsolving, she graduated from Bryn Mawr School Baltimore in 1924. She married John Nicholas Brown of Providence, Rhode Island, in 1930 and had three children: Nicholas, John Carter, and Angela. She was a respected scholar of military history and besides writing numerous articles she authored two major works, "The Anatomy of Glory: The Story of Napoleon and His Guard", and co-authored with Howard R. Rice, "The American Campaigns of Rochambeau's Army, 1780, 17881, 1782, 1783."
