Administrative Information

ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Acquisition: In 1953 the Library purchased from Pierre Béres, Inc. a collection of 78 letters, cards, and telegrams, written by Émile Zola to Henry Céard. This acquisition was in support of the research of Albert J. Salvan, Professor of French Studies, Brown University. Two letters from Henry Céard to his wife in Series 4 were a gift from Albert Salvan as were also several items in Series 2 and 3. Since that time over 80 Zola manuscripts and letters to various correspondents have been purchased and added to the collection. The Manuscripts Accession Register in University Archives records the date and source for these additions.
