Abstract: This extensive collection focuses on the life of Samuel Pomeroy Colt (1852-1921) who lived most of his life in Bristol, Rhode Island. Colt was an active lawyer, politician, businessman, and philanthropist. Of particular interest in the collection are the personal records of Colt and his family, Colt's financial and business records, and the records of his political life and legal practice. The collection also contains several photographs, maps, and blueprints. The study of this collection reveals much about the political, social, and economic history of late nineteenth and early twentieth century Rhode Island.
