Abstract: James H. Van Alen (1902-1991) and Candace Van Alen (1912-2002), were a well-known high society couple who were instrumental in establishing the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island. This collection documents their lives, residences and interests as well as their involvement in various activities and organizations through their own personal records, correspondence, financial and legal records, published and unpublished writings, clippings, audiovisual materials, and photographs.
