Scope & content

The collection is arranged alphabetically by title in one series: Manuscripts. The series is comprised of drafts, galley proofs, and computer generated copies of the future publications. Individual drafts are accompanied by correspondence with publishers including notes, remarks, and intructions.

Box 1 contains the following titles: The Bargain (1987), Dark Splendor (1986), Heart of Gold (1984), Heart of the Hunter (1986), Hearts at Risk (1984), Lovers and Pretenders (1985).

Box 2 contains the following titles: Message for Jesse (1985), Reclaim the Dream (1987), Shady Lady (1974), Stolen Kisses (1986), Touch of Moonlight (1984).

Biographical/Historical note

Patricial Coughlin, a Providence College graduate, is the author of 24 novels. She also writes under the pen name Liz Grady. She began writing in 1982 for Warner Books, Harlequin, and Silhouette. Several of her books, which she writes in 12 weeks, have sold more than 1000,000 copies. By Ms. Coughlin's own words, her audience is predominantly women, a lot of them are professionals.

Ms. Coughlin is the recipient of several awards, including the 1987 Romantic Times Award for the best new romantic adventure author, and the 1998 RITA Award for Best Traditional Romance.

Ms. Coughlin lives in Cranston, Rhode Island with her husband and two sons.

Access to the collection: There are no restrictions on access, except that the collection can only be seen by prior appointment. Some materials may be stored off-site and cannot be produced on the same day on which they are requested.

Separated material: The collection was separated during acquisition into 16 published titles (26 items) and unpublished drafts.
