| ABOUT THE COLLECTION | |
| Acquisition: | The first shipments of the Chafee Senatorial Papers were transferred from Chafee's Washington office to the University of Rhode Island in the spring of 1993 and continued to arrive periodically through March of 2001. |
| Custodial history: | The records were originally collected and stored by the Washington office of John H. Chafee. |
| Processing information: | Due to the large size of the Washington Office sub-group, the series are divided into three sections: Washington Office I, II and III. The collection was processed by Mark Dionne in 2006. |
