Scope & content

The collection contains 8 Umatic videocassettes and 1 VHS tape. The 8 Umatic videocassettes contain interviews with 9 students and professors from the first graduating class of the College of Arts and Sciences. The VHS contains a copy of the "(Re)Presenting a Half Century of the College of Arts and Sciences" documentary.

Historical Information

The tapes are source material for a documentary, "(Re)Presenting a Half Century", that was shown contemporaneous to the "(Re)Presenting a Half Century" Exhibition in the Fine Arts Center to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the College of Arts and Sciences.

The interviews were conducted on August 18th and 19th, 1998 by Judith Tolnick with U.R.I. Professors James Findlay and Stephen Wood. Tolnick, Coordinator, Fine Arts Center Galleries, wrote and researched all accompanying literature for the exhibiton as director of the project. Mary Conlon served as director and editor of the documentary.
