| Acquisition: | The records were deposited to the University of Rhode Island in a series of transfers, 1974-2006. The Senatorial Papers of Claiborne Pell were gifted to the University of Rhode Island by Mrs. Nuala Pell in April 2012. |
| Custodial history: | The records were held by Senator Pell's Washington and Providence offices before being transferred to the University of Rhode Island. |
