Historical note

Bror Tamm (1898 - 1987), born in Sweden - worked as a naval architect in Denmark - came to the United States in 1911 - worked at George Lawley and Son from 1912-1946/47 - and then independently as a naval architect and designer after Lawley closed.

Tamm "was noted as a 'sparmaker, rigger, and small boat craftsman' but he was also known for his many rigging designs, including his patent for the famous Roller Furling Gear, his years as Assistant Manager of Lawley's, and yard innovations such as the drydock in use during WWII which allowed a new Navy ship to be started shortly after the launching of another", Edna Tamm Verzuh (Tamm's daughter) in a letter to the 'Lawley Built' periodical, Winter 1997.
