From 1993-1998, over 100 interdisciplinary RISD
undergraduates, led by the Department of Industrial Design, worked to redesign the
residential kitchen from the ground up, to meet the needs of a full range of users.
The records include photographs, negatives, videos (VHS and 8mm), slides, drawings,
reports, and files.
This collection documents the activities of Karen
Idoine between 1996-2005 in her position as the curator of the Nature Lab, and
primarily contains information pertaining to the planning and execution of events
sponsored by the Nature Lab.
Faculty Symposium: The Nineties: Fin de
Siecle or Vision of the Future?
The Faculty Symposium Committee organized the symposium
"The Nineties: Fin de Siecle or Vision of the Future?" held in the RISD Auditorium
1990 October 12. Coordinated by Assistant Professor of Liberal Arts and Photography
Deborah Bright, the symposium featured presentations by RISD faculty and guest Benny
Andrews on three panels.
The collection contains records of the Director,
Educational Director, Executive Vice-President, and Presidents. The records cover
1905-1965 and the bulk of the records document the Royal Bailey Farnum
Speeches, 1955-1962, delivered primarily to RISD
Trustees, faculty, and students comprise the bulk of the series. The Writings, circa
1948-1960, document the history of RISD and the Painting Department. In addition,
the series includes Frazier's manuals for his Freehand Drawing classes.
