The collection encompasses the years 1832-1886, consisting of personal correspondence comprised of loose letters, drafts of various manuscripts and clippings, two hundred and thirty-six watercolor paintings and drawings from the Mexican Boundary Commission Survey and eleven folio volumes from the Mexican Boundary Commission.
This collection contains the papers of celebrated botanist George H. M. Lawrence. The majority of the records in the collection are from the period 1971 to 1978 when Lawrence was in semi-retirement at his hone in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
