The Shawomet Baptist Church records include founding documents, publications, meeting minutes, correspondence, financial records, membership lists, club and activity records and photographic materials documenting the 170-year history of the congregation, which was founded in 1842 and dissolved in 2011. The bulk of the material covers the period from 1945 through 1999. This is part of the Rhode Island Baptist Heritage Center collection.

The Robert Holbrook Smith ("Dr. Bob") collection, most of which dates from 1936 to 1992, consists of a wide variety of materials, including an extensive selection of books and other printed materials; correspondence; manuscripts; business papers; photographs; certificates, awards and bonds; ephemera; and an assortment of artifacts. These materials are primarily associated with Robert Holbrook Smith and the organization he founded with William G. Wilson, Alcoholics Anonymous. It also includes materials associated with William G. Wilson; Anne Ripley Smith and Lois Burnham Wilson, the respective spouses of Smith and Wilson; and other family members, friends and AA associates.

James H. Van Alen (1902-1991) and Candace Van Alen (1912-2002), were a well-known high society couple who were instrumental in establishing the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island. This collection consists of personal records, correspondence, published and unpublished writings, clippings, photographs, scrapbooks, audiovisual materials, artifacts, and textiles which document the lives, interests, and residences of James H. Van Alen and Candace Van Alen both separately and as a couple.

Abstract:
Most of the material in the Alva Woods papers consists of correspondence, documents, publications and writings that belonged to the Alva Woods family and the Brown family of Providence, Rhode Island. Most of the material is dated between 1812 and 1918. The papers also include architectural drawings, ephemera, one map, newspaper clippings, handwritten recipes, and some photographs. The material is housed in two letter-size Hollinger document cases, one legal-size Hollinger document case and one triple oversize box.

The personal correspondence from 1876 to 1884 provides firsthand accounts of life on the reservation during a crucial time in the tribe's history.
