Abstract:
Thomas M. Allison (U.S.N., Ret.) served aboard the Hornet when propaganda leaflets were dropped in the Tokyo area on 17 February 1945. This collection includes literary manuscripts, official and personal correspondence, and memorabilia relating to World War II navy convoy in 1941 and British P.O.W.'s in Thailand. Also includes: single-leaf leaflets produced by the U.S. Navy in an attempt to lower the morale of the Japanese during World War II, which were printed aboard the carrier U.S.S. Hornet (CV-12), placed in aircraft bomber bays, and then dropped over Tokyo.

The bulk of the written material (to, from, and about Hill) dates from 1870-1884. It consists of personal letters between Hill and his wife; letters between Hill and leading scientists and ordinance specialists; letters to and from important political, scientific, and military figures regarding Hill's application for appointment of Professor of Mathematics in the Navy; business correspondence; Hill's patents and pamphlets regarding explosives, demagnetization, etc.; newspaper clippings of Hill's death in an explosion.

Abstract:
Anna Eleanor Wallace (1886-1982) was a dancer and elocutionist from Providence, Rhode Island. She taught dance, dramatics, elocution and physical education to students of all ages in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Most of her papers consist of copies of recitation pieces, instructions for dances, and photographs. The papers also include some of her personal belongings, catalogs from schools of dance and oratory, and ephemera such as brochures and programs of her students' recitals. The material in the papers is dated between 1874 and 1982, with most dated between 1902 and 1936.

Abstract:
Edna Maine Spooner, of Rhode Island, devoted much of her life's work to the cause of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. This collection, gathered by Spooner, is a rich source of materials documenting the W.C.T.U.'s efforts on both the local, state and national levels. The entire range of materials dates from 1890 to 1974, with most beginning in the 1920s and ending around the 1950s. It includes assorted materials from both the Roberts chapter of the W.C.T.U. of R.I. (based in Cranston, R.I.), and W.C.T.U. of R.I. itself, most likely collected by Spooner when she was an an active member and assumed various administrative and other leadership roles within the local and state organizations. It also includes a significant amount of materials that she collected from the National W.C.T.U--materials which document the W.C.T.U.'s broader perspective: its administrative operations; its social, political and religious agenda; its educational outreach; and its publicity endeavors. What makes this collection particularly strong is its substantive collection of booklets, brochures, and leaflets, along with a few scattered issues of periodicals and a small group of monographs, principally published by the National W.C.T.U. Publishing, the Signal Press, and other affiliate groups. This is an excellent collection of documentation for anyone interested in Women's Studies, and in the social, religious, and political history of the U.S. in the first half of the 20th century.

Abstract:
Most of the material in the Alva Woods papers consists of correspondence, documents, publications and writings that belonged to the Alva Woods family and the Brown family of Providence, Rhode Island. Most of the material is dated between 1812 and 1918. The papers also include architectural drawings, ephemera, one map, newspaper clippings, handwritten recipes, and some photographs. The Lee Garnett Day and Nancy Sayles Day papers consist of business records, correspondence, genealogies, photographs and other material from the Day and Sayles families. Abstract:
This collection, ranging from 1993 to 2014, consists of an array of materials, including correspondence, scattered administrative materials, legal documentation, audio-visual cassettes, computer files, ephemera, and a few artifacts, all of which were issued by or are associated with the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the largest cross-disability membership organization in the United States. AAPD was founded in 1995 by five leaders from the diasability community, Justin Sylvia Walker, Paul Hearne, John D. Kemp, and I. King Jordan, all of whom were instrumental in advocating, drafting and passing the landmark civil rights law, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. The bulk of the materials gathered here represent AAPD's continuing advocacy for the equal rights of the disability community, and are mainly associated with James C. Dickson, a prominent leader in the disability community, who was Vice President for Governmental Affairs of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), and a Brown University graduate (class of 1968).
