The Pembroke College Athletic and Recreation Association (ARA) records contains correspondence, financial records, minutes, programs, reports and other materials related to the Association's activities from 1908 to 1972. The records document the activities of the Association, its relationship with the physical education department, intramural sports at Pembroke College, and some of the athletic interaction between Pembroke College and other women's colleges in New England.
The IRIS records document exploratory work at Brown University in the development and implementation of computing technology in research, teaching and learning. Materials include research documentation and published and unpublished reports, papers, and presentations.
Typed research notes prepared by Nancy Love covering
the period between 1878 and 1952 are based on Elsie Bronson's manuscript ("RISD: A
Half-Century Record, 1878-1928," 1932) as well as catalogues, yearbooks,
correspondence, and corporate/administrative records. Narrative reports provide
information about the development of Departments, Divisions, and Administrative
offices, 1945-1950. The materials in this collection were gathered in preparation
for the RISD's 75th Anniversary.
The Ronald A. Wolk files contain administrative records, correspondence, newsletters and reports that deal with his work as Vice President for University Relations and Development at Brown University. Areas of interest include Brown's curriculum, development, and Brown Security. The material dates from 1969 through 1976.
The Brown University Peace Corps files contain publications by the Peace Corps, training materials, and office files compiled from 1965 to 1967. The office files include correspondence and staff personnel records.
The ACT UP Rhode Island (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) records contain minutes of meetings, correspondence, financial records, reports, booklets, handbooks, pamphlets, clippings, mailings, newsletters, conference material, publications, lists of members and contacts, ACT UP/RI circulars and posters, photographs and clippings of ACT UP demonstrations, documentation of Rhode Island legislation, regulations, and policies concerning AIDS. Also included are AIDS-related materials from other ACT UP groups, especially New York, and various gay and lesbian groups, both in Rhode Island and nationally. Topical files document developments in AIDS treatment, public health issues, government policy, AIDS activism, and various gay/lesbian issues. There are also three painted plywood panels and one cloth banner in the collection.
The William N. Davis Plant Business Manager office files contain general office files, minutes and reports related to the management of food services, housing, and the physical plant of Brown University. They include information regarding the budget and unions at Brown as well as files regarding on-campus and off-campus buildings owned by Brown. The files are dated from circa 1946 to 1974.
The Joseph John Loferski papers document Loferski's tenure at Brown University. The papers consist of research and teaching materials, writings, publications, and correspondence. The bulk of the materials date from 1965 to 1985.
