Rhode Island slides This series consists of slides documenting decades of Rhode Island’s changing geography and demographics, with a focus on Providence. In particular, these images document decline the capital city experienced from the 1960s to the 1980s, as manufacturing decreased and retail businesses abandoned downtown for the suburban Warwick and Rhode Island Malls. Images also show revitalization efforts of the 1990s, and how construction of the new train station in Providence and the surrounding highways changed the landscape of the capital city |
