The Loren and Elizabeth Slater Anthony papers are a
collection of notebooks, class notes, and reports created during their enrollment at Rhode
Island School of Design, 1937-1942. The collection also includes samples of professional
graphic design work done after graduation, circa 1948.
The collection contains course materials,
correspondence, grant proposals, and reports and documentation from the Department
of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design (TLAD)’s external projects, Rhode Island
School of Design, 1994-2014.
Typed research notes prepared by Nancy Love covering
the period between 1878 and 1952 are based on Elsie Bronson's manuscript ("RISD: A
Half-Century Record, 1878-1928," 1932) as well as catalogues, yearbooks,
correspondence, and corporate/administrative records. Narrative reports provide
information about the development of Departments, Divisions, and Administrative
offices, 1945-1950. The materials in this collection were gathered in preparation
for the RISD's 75th Anniversary.
