The collection encompasses the years of 1863 until 1937 and consists of five scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, two separate inventories of field collections, a bill of sale, two photographs, a postcard and Pas Indian Reservation (Saskatchewan, Canada) documents including a Cree Syllabary Hymn and Psalms book, a treaty form and a ration ticket. This extensive collection focuses on the life of Samuel Pomeroy Colt (1852-1921) who lived most of his life in Bristol, Rhode Island. Colt was an active lawyer, politician, businessman, and philanthropist. Of particular interest in the collection are the personal records of Colt and his family, Colt's financial and business records, and the records of his political life and legal practice. The collection also contains several photographs, maps, and blueprints. The study of this collection reveals much about the political, social, and economic history of late nineteenth and early twentieth century Rhode Island.

The photographic collection encompasses the years of 1958 until 1973 and documents Rhode Island artist Gino Conti's travels in the American southwest and northern Mexico, primarily on American Indian reservations. It consists of over 3,700 photographic prints, negatives and slides, a disbound photo album and calendar pages used to record the locations of his travels. The collection also includes a box of postcards, a letter, newspaper clippings, art exhibition flyers, images of religious art and architecture, a reference book on the Tarahumana signed by Conti and a related ethnographic collection.
