The H. Adrian Smith papers (1752-1992) contain materials amassed over a lifetime of collecting magic-related materials and being involved in magic societies and magic performance. These materials include magic trick descriptions, playbills, posters, photographs of magicians and magic performances, publications, correspondence, and magic society materials. The collection also contains personal correspondence and photographs of Smith’s life in Providence, Rhode Island, and North Attleboro, Massachusetts with his wife Anna Fuller Smith.

Abstract:
The John Birch Society records include audio-visual material such as audiocassettes, films, filmstrips, phonograph records, reel-to-reel tapes, slides and videocassettes; business records, correspondence, manuscripts, membership lists, office files, publications and subject files. The records also include a great deal of material regarding the Society's campaign against the ratification of the Panama Canal Treaties during the 1970s. The records are dated from 1928 to 1990. Most of the material is dated from 1965 to 1990.

Abstract:
John J. Weir (1922-1977) grew up in the small seaside town of South Amboy, New Jersey. He became an avid reader of science fiction and horror in 1934 to escape the suffocating boredom of small town life. The John Weir papers contain autograph and typed correspondence to and from science fiction fans who were subscribers of or contributors to Weir’s fan magazine Fantasmagoria. Weir also received mail from many famous writers of the day, including H. P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, William Lumley, Robert Bloch, Henry Kuttner, Sam Moskowitz, Emil Petaja, John Baltadonis, and Duane Rimel. The collection also includes a photograph, postcards, an issue of the fan magazine Sweetness and Light, and John Weir’s Scripto pencil.

Curtis Bird Norris and his father Lowell Ames Norris were both prolific producers of detective stories. His mother Helen Curtis Norris was a a children's author. The collection contains correspondence, original drafts, typescripts, diaries, scrapbooks, crime case files, photographs, clippings, memorabilia, and cassettes relating to their writing. Also included is material relating to the public affairs work of Curtis B. Norris at Brown and Stonehill colleges, his Ledger column, and background on the "Phantom P-40" story.

Abstract:
The Herbert E. Walter papers span from 1844-1948 and consist primarily of correspondence, and teaching materials by and relating to Herbert Eugene Walter (1867-1945), Professor of biology at Brown University. The collection includes extensive material on the study of eugenics, then a branch of biology, including correspondence, teaching materials, notes, pamphlets, published materials, and ephemera from eugenics-related professional organizations. Other significant materials include family papers from Walter’s parents, grandparents and extended family who lived primarily in Vermont. There are penmanship instruction books from the 1840s-1850s created by Walter’s father, Augustus Porter Walter (d.1872), who was a penmanship instructor in Vermont. Betsie Ann Brockway Walter described in detail her experience working in a textile mill in Lowell, Massachusetts during 1860-1861 in letters she wrote to her future husband Augustus P. Walter.
